Ong: Crossover talk scaring investors

BIDOR: The invitation for a merger and crossovers involving Umno, Pas and Pakatan Rakyat members in Perak is "hot air" that was confusing the public and scaring off foreign investors, said MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.
"People are confused because, politically, we have many problems. There is squabbling, slander, fights and confusing suggestions."It is time we set aside unhealthy political tactics and focus on gaining the confidence of the people and improving the country's economic performance and keep foreign investors coming." Ong, who is also the Perak MCA chairman, said this yesterday after presenting sponsored copies of a Chinese newspaper to students from various schools here."As long as BN exists, we (MCA) will not join the opposition," he said, pointing out that crossovers were morally wrong and tantamount to betraying voters.
In the last general election, BN and PR subscribed to different ideologies and it would be impossible for the two to merge, he added. On the MCA divisional elections, he said elections at 180 of the 191 divisions were held without a hitch.
